I can't believe it was exactly a year ago today that I posted the pictures from the Doty 4th on the Farm. A lot has happened in the last year but the 4th of July on the farm had the same feel it always does. It was so nice to see everyone! I have put more pictures up on the family news page and eventually I will have the video together.
And I am not just talking about the last 18 years that I have been married to Matt. I have not been here to update this blog since we were in Myrtle Beach. Matt says next vacation... we fly. There. I am good with that, I think. Well, I got my truck back around June 15thish. Only to have the breaks go on the way home from my moms on the 4th. Stranded in Syracuse until my wonderful in-laws could come get us. Well, we perched under a tree in the shade and the mini-mart off of 81 in Central Square. I got the truck back and good as new in less than a week. Then, I hit a deer! For the love of Mike. The Curse of the Dodge. I have never bought Dodge before always Chevy/GM. Well, the Dodge has got to go. It has some bad Juju. Anyway. Mom told me Papa always bought blue vehicles and once he bought green. He has 3 accidents and got rid of it. So, bye bye Dodge. I got rid of the Caliber. The little blue car I had and I bought and Ford Focus. I like it. It's purple. Kinda reminds me of the Chevy X-11 hatch back that mom and dad had that I learned how to drive in. Anyway, that is the most recent news.
Kids are great and keeping us busy. Sports, sports and more sports x4. Crazy. Being a teacher now I thought I would get my summers off. Well, they lied about that. However, it is my own doing for the most part. I love my job and it was a great first year. I had an exceptional group of kids that will all go on to to big things. I am very proud of them and I believe I had at least 5 that want to go onto Pharmacy school. 3 already enrolled this fall at ACP.
My second nephew (Hunter Tuttle) graduated this June. He was the baby that was at my wedding **sniff, sniff** Amazing kid, Valedictorian of his class and going to RPI for aeronautical engineering. I am pretty sure he can't tell us what that means or he will have to kill us.;) Very Proud of him.
Arael turned 15 this summer, how the heck did that happen? Time. The clock is ticking faster than you think it is.
And not only have I been married for 18 years, I have lived here in Russell for 20 years now. I have made some amazing friends over the years and I have a wonderful family both here and back in Waverly. My friends here have become like family to me and if it were not for them the bugs and the snow probably would have driven me away. Of course I would have taken Matt and the kids but I am thinking that this is exactly where we should be. Bring on the bugs and the snow. I got this!
Still have a lot of summer left but as I said the clock is ticking and we have every weekend packed full of fun.
Well, I say day 6 but it is actually day 7 of a 10 day vacation. We left Myrtle Beach behind and are headed to Baltimore. I posted some pictures of the house. You will notice that Justin wanted to play some sort of where's waldo game and popped into as many pictures as he could. The house was good sized slept 12 and had 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Had a great time and would love to go back but as Matt said, next time we are flying.
Day started off with a little cleaning and laundry, it almost felt like I was home... Anyway, after that was done I headed to the beach where the kids were and sat in the sun. It was about 65 with a chilly wind but there was no snow or rain so I am not complaining. The sun feels so good. Arael did some tanning and a little photo shoot. Karli and Kacee had the funniest photo bomb, even Kim did not see it. Arael and I were giggling and when the boy finally spoke, the girls then saw him... hilarious. The pictures don't do it justice, I should have been recording, like I usually am, not sure what happened there.
After the beach Arael and I went back to house to get ready to go back to Broadway on the Beach. The boys went Mini-golfing (Matt won by 4 strokes, not sure what he will do when the boys start beating him easily :/ ) We all went to Broadway together and had dinner at Johnny Rockets for dinner, yep no seafood for us. Matt is the only one that likes seafood, he was out numbered. We went to the ginormous candy store, again. It really is something. Then it was time to leave after I got my mom some salt water taffy.
We are headed to Baltimore tomorrow (a day early). It is suppose to rain tomorrow and it's gonna be nice in Baltimore Saturday, I hate to lose a day of sunshine to the car. Plus we have to return the rental Monday (the day I thought I could get my car back no no no ... 5 weeks + for that) so we will have to get the rental to Potsdam before the end of the day Monday. Never a dull moment when you vacation with the Scott Family! Hopefully the trip to Baltimore will be spectacula
So, all in all I suppose it was a good day, considering the first time I left the house I damaged the rental while taking out the cable for several houses :/ Honestly if we did not have bad luck on this trip we would have no luck. That aside, it was a good day.
We went night bowling, cosmic bowling? anyway, we did that . There was an arcade and the kids had a ball. There were about 30 of us. We had drinks, food and even bowled a little. I am not sure who won but it doesn't matter. Probably Charlie or should I say 'Shoeless Charlie' once he took his shoes off he was unstoppable. In fact if you didn't make it to your lane to bowl in a timely fashion, well, he did it for you. I am pretty sure that is how Kim and I (who took turns) got a strike because after 5 frames we had a cumulative score of 10... I know hard to believe but... true story.
Alaina had her friend... that is a boy... spent the day with everyone. I don't think he had any idea what he was getting into. He did very well under the circumstances.
Now after the comic bowling all the girls are here for a 'girls night'. I must be crazy. Well, we know I am but still those 5 girls have more energy at 1 in the morning that anyone I know. As my dad would say 'I may have to go and knock some heads together". They had to have this girls night because 3 of the 5 are leaving tomorrow. It is time to head back north for some. We are here until Sunday, Matt is in no hurry to get back int the car. We will be stopping in Baltimore to spend Easter with my cousins and then head back to the Tundra on Monday. So, until tomorrow. Check out pics on Picture Page.
Day 2 and 3, despite the weather, which was better here (on Tuesday) than in Russell was pretty good. Monday, well it rained here and it was 80 in Russell, go figure. We had a good day, kids went in and out between rain storms, it did not seem to deter them. We had company from NC, some original northerns, came over and spent some time with us.
We participated in the golf cart parade, since we didn't get to on Sunday night. Do you know that it's an every night occurrence down here? Crazy, but a lot of fun. Now you know me. I just happened to have some glow stick and balloons that have led lights in them. I know right! Well, we definitely had the most visible cart! They could see us coming from a mile away.
Before the parade there were Cards and Margaritas. It was a fun time by all
Today it was suppose to rain all day. It sprinkled off and on but nothing to brag about. The north was riddled with flooding, which makes me wonder what we will be going home to. We spent the day at Broadway on the Beach and did some shopping. They had some really cool shops and many places to eat. We spent a lot of time waiting to be seated to eat but the food was great and the service was good. I have a few more pictures up on the picture page and I made a video of the girls on the beach. Hopefully the weather will be good for the next few days.
Day 1: It's not really day one but day one is not worth remembering and to be honest I don't want to remember it. So, Day 1 was actually Sunday (April 13, 2014). There was no sleeping in at the White/Scott Beach House. Big breakfast of eggs, bacon, and french toast then headed to the beach. It was a beautiful day for the beach. The sun was hot and the drinks were cold. We had golf carts to maneuver around the complex and to get to the beach because 50 yards is too far to carry a coolerful of Kool-Aid. It was smooth sailing until Matt and Andy both lost the keys to the golf carts. In Matts defense his keys were stolen by the notorious klepto Mark White, who vehemently denied doing any such thing. When asked to turn out his pockets... well you can guess what we found!
We had a big barbeque at our house, a good time was had by all. Matt and Andy stole the keys to the golf carts, twice, so they could participate in the golf cart parade. Matt fell asleep early and Andy and Wayne took advantage of his vulnerability. I have to say it was hilarious. Took pictures of the girls on the beach and the boys playing catch. Now, lets see what Day 2 brings us. Check out picture on Picture Page
We are headed for Myrtle Beach for a family vacation... well not really, it is a friend vacation. I think everyone from the north country will be there. But before I get into that. I have to mention that I wrote a little poem, as it were, for Papa for his birthday the other day. I thought this may be a good place to share it. So here it is:
It seems like yesterday that you were here with us.
You brought us kisses, lots of love and the best there was for hugs. On this day, if you were here, I’d wish you the very best,
I understand your absence, you’re happier there are rest.
We miss you more than words can say, and look to you as our guide
for you make your presence known each day as the cardinal flies with pride.
So that is that!
Now about this friend vacation. I am very excited. You see when I was a kid all my friends went to Ocean City and I always wanted to go but my mother said "why would I want to go on vacation and see everyone that I can see here for free." Well, isn't that the point of going on vacation with friends. Anyway, all of Russell will be there, almost. I think it will be a great time. I plan on documenting the adventure here on my site so stay tuned!
We ran in the new year with some good friends and were home in bed by 12:30. Well, not quite but pretty close. I suppose that means that we are getting old. I was ready to go home at 9:30! What is that about? The kids all had something they were doing and had a nice New Years as well. It is 0 degrees out and only gonna get colder. As my sister would say, "That's what you get for living in Canada." Not Canada exactly but close.
Basketball has reached the middle of the season and I can't wait for it to be over and that's all I have to say about that.
It is nice getting to see the twins play together and Arael has moved up to Varsity, not surprising. I am really enjoying my teaching job. I am having a hard time adjusting to the money I am not making but I do love the job.
I have made a few resolutions for the 2014 year, we shall see how that goes.
Have a Great New Year and I hope to check in more often not that I am up an running again.
Just added some photos of one of the girls last summer soccer games. I guess that means that it is almost time for school to start.
